Company Philosophy
It is not enough for interpreters and translators to just speak another language. To perform their job well they must also be effectively at home in at least two different cultures. Like the chameleon, they have to be able to `change colour' in order to facilitate and reflect new settings. This requires familiarity with a wide range of diverse cultural and professional environments which can only have been acquired through experience.
There can be no doubt that, from a personal point of view, certain assignments are more tempting than others. Clearly, a tasting tour of local wineries with international visitors can also be good fun for the accompanying interpreter. A stint in the fantastic atmosphere of the Sydney Olympics or the translation of a rare historic manuscript certainly extends the boundaries of the everyday.
Nevertheless, having said that, each and every job deserves to be completed accurately, cost-effectively and on time. Confidentiality has to be maintained. All requirements regarding presentation need to be met. In the end, the finished product simply must comply with the demands of the client and the subject matter.
While these are professional standards which, as a matter of course, should apply to all translators and interpreters, GLS - German Language Services prides itself on its particular attention to detail and close working relationship with its clients.
Customer satisfaction is and has been the barometer of our success. We would like to keep it that way.
